"In these times of rapid change, ideas are the commodity of success" – Robin Sharma

Acronyms are not just the domain of government agencies and political pundits, they are also a

nice way of remembering goals and objectives. Keeping focused and positive are major skills

needed in order to generate professional level income in real estate. I have said many times

that in this business of real estate, we are our own worst enemies. As a comic strip character

once said, " I have seen the enemy and he is us!"

In light of that…here is an interesting acronym that is a useful formula for continued

success…the word STRIVE.

S

= Study…to successfully reach any goal in life you need to study how to exceed your

present reach. Without the skill set acquired through study, you can never move toward your

goal.

T

= Try…you need to take action in order to succeed. The world is full of well informed

failures who sit in the grandstands and never set foot on the playing field.

R

= Repeat…practice makes perfect. Make sure you practice actions that will bring you

success and turn them into habits of mind and motion.

I

= Innovate…when you think about it, soap is just soap, yet millions of dollars of profit depend

upon the manufacturer’s ability to convince us that its soap is different and better. Seth Godin

in his book, "The Purple Cow" describes how we must stand out in a field (like a purple cow) to

be successful in todays ad-weary world.

V

= Visualize…part of success is engaging both sides of the brain. Creative visualization is a

great way to "see" yourself succeeding in your goals. The more vividly you can create a picture

of success in your mind, the more effective you will be in achieving the results you desire.

E

= Energize…motivate yourself with positive affirmations. Talk to yourself only in positive

affirmations and the other elements of this formula will fall into place more easily. Sometimes

writing down positive affirmations on recipe cards to refer to, is an effect way to keep yourself

motivated throughout the day.
